In 2011, I found out I was pregnant, but when I had my 8-week scan, there was no heartbeat. I was heartbroken and inconsolable. It was the first time I had miscarried and I was hoping it would be the last.

In September 2019, when my daughter Mayah was stillborn, I embarked on an unanticipated journey through grief and depression, one that felt endless. As many as one in five women develop a mental illness during pregnancy or in the first year after birth.

I founded Mayah's Legacy in 2020 to empower and educate women and families facing perinatal mental health challenges. Through advocacy for transformative policies and practices, we work to ensure that every individual receives compassionate, high-quality care. Our mission is to elevate voices, promote equity, and drive systemic change that makes perinatal mental health care a truly supportive experience for all
